I told you he'd look dashing in a tux, and was I wrong? Michelle looks pretty nice, too.
When I was in high school, Prom was confined to one evening, but it has now become an entire day of activities. Bryce's day started with the boys cooking breakfast for their dates at 7 am on Saturday morning. They drove to a pavilion with a great view of the valley below and cooked pancakes, hashbrowns, and bacon. Here are the girls (Michelle, Taylor, and Keira) admiring the view while the boys cook breakfast on camp stoves.

Right below the pavilion is a sand pit -- the closest you'll ever come to a beach in Kennewick. If you ignore the sage brush in the background, you might actually think you were on the coast.

They had games planned for the morning, and then while the girls spent the rest of the day with hair appointments and dress fittings, the boys prepared the pavilion at the stake center for their own private dance. Here's Kevin trying to string the lights.

They finished stringing lights half an hour before they were supposed to pick up their dates. I laughed at how quickly Bryce showered, threw on his tux, and left. Those girls had spent hours getting their hair just right, and the boys could be done in 15 minutes. Here are the three handsome young men:

. . . and the three handsome young men joined by the beautiful ladies . . .

One couple in particular stood out:

Dinner was hosted on our back patio with Jim serving as maitre'd . . .

. . . and Brett and Jeff very willingly serving as waiters.

(OK, maybe Brett doesn't look like a very willing waiter in this particular picture, but he did a good job.)

Jeff had his act down pat. He had practiced it over and over, and he was a pro. "Are you ready to order, Sir?" "What type of dressing would you like on your salad, Miss?" "That will be fine, thank you. And you, Sir, are you ready to order?"

We printed menus for them to select from. The first course was a dinner salad, followed by Chicken Cordon Bleu or Vegetarian Linguine, baked potatoes, green beans or stir fry vegetables, rainbow jello, rolls, cheesecake pie, and hot fudge sundaes.

And then it was off to the Prom. They stopped by the official Prom at the school and had their pictures taken, and then they went to the Pavilion for their own private dance. Bryce says the pictures don't do it justice -- it looked great after they spent all afternoon stringing lights.

A lot of work but very fun. We're glad they had a good time.

I'm surprised Mom! You put a lot of pictures up! That's fun!
If any are interested in seeing even more, I posted about 60 additional on my Facebook.
It looks like the whole family had fun with the Prom. Bryce really did look great!
I love getting to "participate" in the prom. Thanks for sharing!
